This course is designed to familiarize students with current issues regarding special education services as they relate to students with disabilities, their families, and general education, the social model of disability, a historical perspective of special education services, special education laws and regulations at the federal and state levels, federal and state definitions, inclusionary practices, and research-based methodologies. Prerequisite: EDUC 160, QPA of 2.70; sophomore standing or higher.
Corequisite: EDUC 130 or EDUC 210
