Nondiscrimination Policy

Procedures for Resolving Allegations of Discrimination

Individual student complaints that discrimination or conditions perceived to be discriminatory have occurred on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, handicap, age, sex, sexual orientation, or status as a disabled veteran will be reviewed as follows:

Informal Procedures

• A student who believes that discrimination has occurred should initially discuss the matter with his or her advisor. This official shall collect whatever information is necessary and attempt to resolve the matter.
• If the problem is not resolved to the satisfaction of the student, he or she should contact the Office of Academic Affairs if the grievance is of an academic nature or the Office of Student Affairs if the grievance is of a non-academic nature.

Formal Procedures

If the matter is not resolved within a reasonable period of time to the satisfaction of the student(s) involved, a case of a non-academic nature should be submitted with documentation to the the vice president for student affairs for resolution by one of the College adjudication forums, such as the Discipline Review Committee. A case of an academic nature should be submitted with documentation to the vice president for academic affairs for resolution by the Academic Standards Committee.
