MATH 232 - Applied Statistics 1 Units
Students will learn to explore, manipulate, visualize, and analyze data in order to investigate patterns and understand real-world phenomena. They will further gain experience in statistical thinking, communication of results and an introduction to data wrangling. Topics include descriptive statistics, elementary probability, common discrete and continuous probability distributions, correlation and simple linear regression and an introduction to confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. The course will have a strong focus on using the statistical software, R, to wrangle and analyze data (no prior statistical or computing background experience is necessary).
