MSUC 630 - Substance Use and Addictive Disorders 3 Credits
This course provides a comprehensive overview of substance use and addictive disorders, including etiology, neurobiology, pharmacology, assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-informed treatment approaches. Students examine ethical, legal, cultural, and systemic considerations in addiction counseling practice, as well as the impact of substance use on individuals, families, and communities. Emphasis is placed on professional identity development and foundational competencies in addiction-focused clinical care.
