MSW 580 - Intro to Social Work Research Meth


3 Credits

This introductory course will cover basic quantitative and qualitative research methods utilized by social workers, including: elements of experimental design; development of research questions; conducting a literature review; and working with data sets. Understanding the role of ethics within research is essential, including an assessment of the history of social work research through the lens of anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Discussion of research opportunities for social workers includes a focus on its application within organization and community settings. This course will utilize a series of discussions, exercises, and projects to provide students with experience using research to support practice, including means of evaluating individual, family, and group client systems.
