MSW 625 - Soc Just, Mgmt, Community Engagement

This course will explore applications of macro social work practice in engaging, assessing, intervening with, and evaluating organizations and communities. Students will engage with the Grand Challenges for Social Work, analyzing the practice and policy implications of these social justice issues for organizations and communities, with focused attention on the role of these systems in addressing human rights and social, racial, economic, and environmental justice. Students will critique the values, ideologies, and socio-political forces that promote or fail to promote anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the United States and specific types of organizations and communities therein. Additionally, students will explore the tenants of anti-oppressive management, supervision, and leadership, preparing them for potential opportunities in nonprofit and public service organizations.
