SOC 336 - Criminology: Theories in Practice 4 Credits
1 Units
This course will build on students’ foundational knowledge of criminal justice and criminological theory. Students will revisit mainstream and critical theoretical frameworks introduced in previous coursework in order to critically assess the arguments and assumptions of those frameworks, synthesize separate theories into more holistic integrated theories, and use those frameworks to analyze data related to crime rates and crime causation in the United States and abroad. After completing this course, students will have a deeper, more nuanced understanding of the major theories used in the fields of criminology and criminal justice. (PtK:L&R)
