SPAN 255 - From Macondo to Mcondo 4 Credits
1 Units
The literary “Boom” in Latin America took the global market by storm, drawing the world’s attention to the region’s rich offerings. In recent years, new writers and filmmakers have proclaimed a break with magical realism, reveled in the over-stimulated mediatic age, and weighed in on the effects of globalization. We will consider how “Latin American literature” itself has been figured as we explore the questions raised by these voices. We will also incorporate continued development of written and spoken expression in Spanish.
