SPAN 513 - Spanish for Educators II 3 Credits
Spanish 513 is designed to help students in education achieve novice-mid to novice-high Spanish proficiency level, as defined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). It will offer the basic tools for communicating with Spanish-speaking students and their parents. It will include everyday words, phrases, expressions, questionnaires, and exclusive vocabulary that are useful in a school environment. It will provide students with opportunities to learn and contextualize essential grammar points related to the themes of the lessons. It will present daily situations that educators and other school personnel may encounter at work. It will include cultural notes that highlight Hispanic customs, traditions and beliefs that may be relevant to education, as well as contemporary issues affecting the Hispanic community in the United States.
