SOCW 675 - Addressing Homelessness

This course utilizes a healing-centered macro social work lens to look more closely into the reality of those experiencing homelessness. In addition to exploring lived experience through case study, this course will also examine the theories often used when working with this population, the approaches best able to assist them, and how the macro lens can inform the micro work and how the micro experience can inform the macro perspective. This course will include a comprehensive review of historical efforts to address homelessness in the United States, current policy and practice initiatives, and the role of social workers, counselors, and other helping professionals within efforts to end the epidemic.
