SOCW 685 - Environmental Justice 3 Credits
This interdisciplinary course critically examines historical and contemporary environmental justice issues through a social work lens, with particular attention to the disproportionate exposure to environmental hazards and inequitable access to environmental benefits experienced by systemically marginalized communities and low-income populations. Students will explore the structural, political, and economic forces that produce and sustain environmental inequities, as well as the lived experiences of impacted communities.
Prerequisite: SOCW560 - Diversity, Equity OR MCC560 - Social/Cultural Found Credit Type Code: Letter Grade
