BMGT 575 - Digital Operations & Agile Mgmt 3 Credits
This course explores how organizations design, manage, and continuously improve operations in a digitally enabled and rapidly changing business environment. Emphasizing agility, adaptability, and data-informed decision-making, students examine how modern organizations integrate project execution, operational systems, and emerging technologies to deliver value in real time. The course situates contemporary practices within the historical evolution of operations management, including frameworks such as the Toyota Production System and Lean Six Sigma, and examines their relevance in the era of Industry 4.0. Students explore how digital technologies-including automation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and smart systems-are transforming operations, supply chains, and organizational performance. A core focus is on Agile management as both a project methodology and an operational mindset. Students learn to apply Agile principles, iterative planning, and cross-functional collaboration to improve responsiveness, manage uncertainty, and drive continuous improvement. Through applied projects, students develop practical skills in process optimization, project execution, and leading teams in dynamic, technology-driven environments.
