This course provides intermediate level engagement with the Gospel according to John. It features weekly close reading of John’s Gospel, sensitivity to John’s distinctive witness, and attention to key topics and themes in the Gospel and in contemporary scholarship. Students will cultivate their skills in public biblical interpretation and practical theology. While oriented toward historical and literary scholarship, the course consistently presses questions of faith and meaning.
