THEO 742 - Women In The New Testament 3 Credits
In this course students will gain familiarity with the women who populate early Christian texts and what these texts have to say about the presence and participation of women within the movement. With attention to the socio-cultural landscape of gender in the ancient Mediterranean world, we will examine a variety of early Christian positions on women and gender, including those of the Pastoral Epistles and the Acts of Paul and Thecla, as well as contemporary scholarly debates on the role of women in early Christianity. This course engages feminist, queer, and intersectional theories.
