THEO 751 - Chaplaincy And Palliative Care 3 Credits
This course first examines palliative care as a humanistic and philosophical perspective, exploring the meanings of relationality, suffering, and agency in chronic care and end-of-life contexts. It traces the historical roots of palliative practice to premodern faith traditions and considers their relevance for contemporary perspectives on care. The work of chaplaincy and spiritual accompaniment in a palliative key will be studied in relation to these historical foundations, to humanistic perspectives, literary and theological reflection, and the methodology of contemporary chaplaincy.
