HLTP 246 - Modern Environmental Health Hazards 4 Credits
This course examines the complex and interdependent relationship between environment and health outcomes, with a focus on emerging and reemerging environmental threats. Some topics include: effects of urbanization and demographic shifts on incidence of infectious disease; priority diseases from air, water, food, occupational, and clinical origins; novel chemical hazards, including “forever chemicals”; and regulatory, societal, and economic influences on the prevalence of environmental disasters and disparities.
