ART 133 - The Arts Across the Lifespan 4 Credits
This course explores the transformative power of art across diverse communities and life stages, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of how art can restore, support, and build connections through collaborative engagement. Students will investigate the multifaceted role of art in various settings-from community centers and healthcare environments to correctional facilities, museums, camps, and afterschool programs-examining how artistic experiences and creation can generate profound insights into individual and collective experiences. By studying regional and global examples, participants will learn to design and measure arts-based interventions that address community needs, gaining practical experience in understanding art’s capacity to initiate new perspectives, celebrate shared ideals, and create meaningful social impact. The course is designed for students interested in exploring arts engagement across multiple age groups and demographics beyond traditional educational settings.
