ART 280 - Painting II 1 Units
This course emphasizes formal development and critical dialogue and will focus on technical assignments intended to increase one’s ability to manipulate paint. Concentration is heavily located in representational exercises intended to advance skills while developing a more assertive conceptual approach. Emphasis is placed on contour, gesture, value and volume coupled with the accuracy of rendering illusionistic space. Assignments are seen in the context of both classical and contemporary artists who are investigating related conceptual and technical terrain. Different approaches to image making are explored to develop unique bodies of work.
