EDUC 210 - Child Devel & Cognition I 1 Units
This course is devoted specifically to child development from pre-birth to age five. This course will begin with an overview of child study in contemporary contexts and the role teachers play in early childcare settings. Major developmental theories will be addressed as they relate to physical and motor, social and emotional, and cognitive domains. The course will also focus on the application of knowledge to teaching and working with very young children and their families. Strategies and activities will be learned to work with young children from diverse populations. The concepts will be foundational for all of the courses in early childhood education. 40-hour field experience. Clearances and other documents for fieldwork required. Fall.
