EDUC 577 - Student Teaching

3 Credits

Three course units. Students approved by Teacher Education Committee work with qualified teachers in local Pennsylvania elementary and secondary schools for one entire academic semester. Scheduling and length of experience will vary according to grade level and teaching field. Under guidance of cooperating teachers and College supervisors, students have direct learning experiences in their areas. Pass/No Credit grade. Early childhood and middle level education candidates are encouraged to student-teach in the fall; art, music, foreign language, and secondary education candidates in the spring. Students seeking dual certification must student teach in the spring semester and will have 18 weeks of student teaching beginning January 2. (Undergraduate cognate: EDUC 375-377).

Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program. Clearances and other documents for fieldwork required.
