FREN 341 - Selected Prose Works in French

This course features selected prose works in French from throughout the Francophone world The focus primarily on the narrative form includes unabridged short stories from France, Senegal and the province of Quebec beginning in the eighteenth century, and a twentieth-century novel from the French Antilles. Students will study how language and local cultures interact to express diverse lived and literary experiences. The course develops reading proficiency of primary and secondary source materials, writing proficiency at the advanced level, and supports critical engagement with language and literature.
