ART 119 - Creativity, Art, Social Practice 1 Units
Students in this process and project-based studio art course will explore universal concepts such as creativity, culture, and community through the works of contemporary artists and by making their own artwork. Students will explore concepts through art making, sketchbooks, reading, and journals. Materials in the course may include but are not limited to drawing, photography, video, printmaking, collage, sculpture, or fibers (based on student and instructor interest), to discover and challenge the visual language and the power of works of art. Students will develop cross-disciplinary skills such as the effective communication of ideas, problem solving, critical thinking, reflection, recording observations, working with materials, and forming meaning and metaphor.
