IDIS 250 - Moral Mktg: Serving Poor 4 Credits
1 Units
This course focuses on how the ideas of tzedek (“justice”) and charity (“love”) apply to marketing to the world’s poorest people (those living on less than $2/day). This coruse will look at three different perspectives of social justice: Jewish, Christian, and American secular traditions. Each of these three perspectives has unique traditions regarding the role of the individual, the community, and the obligation towards helping those less fortunate. We will discuss differences between morality and ethics based on these three perspectives, as well as approaching social justice as an obligation, an act of love, or a practical solution. We will disuss the needs of the poor in emerging nations and show how products could be created and distributed in these emerging nations in accordance with these different ethical and moral perspectives.
