Moravian Theological Seminary

With offices in the Bahnson Center and Lenox House on the Main Street Campus, Moravian Theological Seminary offers graduate professional programs leading to the Master of Divinity, the Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling, and the Master of Arts in Theological Studies.

Moravian Theological Seminary serves as the seminary for the Moravian Church, primarily for students in North America. International students from other Moravian centers, such as Great Britain and Europe, Tanzania, South Africa, Nicaragua, and the West Indies, further their studies at the Seminary. In keeping with the ecumenical stance of the Moravian Church, the Seminary welcomes students from all denominations. Non-Moravians from a variety of faith traditions typically constitute more than half the student body.

In addition to a full offering of courses in biblical studies (Old and New Testament), doctrine (including theology and ethics), church history, counseling dynamics, pastoral theology, and congregational leadership, the Seminary sponsors continuing education programs, including events supported by the Ecumenical Committee for Continuing Education and the Lay Academy.

In 2003, the Seminary entered a cooperative agreement with the School of Social Work of Marywood University, Scranton, Pennsylvania, whereby students can enroll in dual degree programs. By sharing comparable requirements and field placements, students can complete the Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling and the Master of Social Work in three years. Under the same program, the Master of Divinity and the Master of Social Work can be completed in four years.
