BUS 255 - Mindfulness in Sport 4 Credits
1 Units
Using Csikszentmihalyi’s theory of flow as the theoretical framework to guide this course, we will explore mindfulness and flow in the context of optimizing performance in sports organizations. Together, we will discover how leaders make meaning of their behaviors in the context of doing good business in the sports industry. We will explore ways of thinking, reactions to our readings, self-reflection, and how to express responses in an analytical and thoughtful way. In an effort to create awareness for happiness at work, we must understand the cultural implications that stimulate our lives. Using a sports management lens, let’s explore how “… leaders and managers of any organization can learn to contribute to the sum of human happiness, to the development of an enjoyable life that provides meaning, and to a society that is just and evolving” (Csikszentmihalyi, p. 5, 2003).
