EDUC 324 - Social Studies: Instr Strategies

Students learn a multitude of practical ideas, strategies, and activities that early childhood educators can use to both interest young children in social studies and integrate social studies with other sciences, art, literature, math, reading, and writing. Since play is the basic way children learn, this course offers strategies to incorporate “play” into its materials. Students will develop a full thematic unit as a major project in the course. Fall.

Prerequisite: GPA of 2.70; EDUC 100.2 , EDUC 160 , EDUC 211  and EDUC 244 ; HIST 113  or HIST 114  with a grade of C or better; passing score on PAPA Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
Corequisite: EDUC 323 , EDUC 358.2
